Join Dye Kween founder Amanda de Beaufort for an introduction to the magic of indigo dyeing and traditional shibori resist techniques.
In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to create an indigo vat from scratch and work with a living vat. Amanda will demonstrate foundational shibori techniques—including folding, twisting, binding, and resist printing—to create bold, one-of-a-kind patterns.
Each participant will create and take home a naturally dyed cotton tea towel.
Participants are also encouraged to bring one small item made from a natural plant fiber (100% cotton, linen, hemp, or bamboo) to dye. T-shirts, tank tops, bandanas, socks, and lightweight scarves are all great choices. Please do not bring large items such as towels, dresses, pants, jeans, blankets, sheets, curtains, tablecloths, or large pieces of fabric.
Please note:

Items must be made from 100% plant fibers. Synthetic fabrics and protein fibers such as silk and wool are not compatible with the indigo vat used in this workshop.

Large items cannot be dyed during this class.

Existing stains or discoloration may remain visible or dye unevenly.

Wear clothing and shoes that you don't mind getting stained or wet—flip-flops or washable shoes are ideal.

This workshop is intended for adults ages 18 and older.
No prior experience is necessary—all skill levels are welcome.
Cancellation Policy
Workshop fees are refundable up to 10 days before the workshop. Refunds cannot be issued for cancellations made within 10 days of the event.

I'll do my best to meet these shipping estimates but can't guarantee them. Actual delivery time will depend on the shipping method you choose.
We are not responsible for packages that have been delivered, then stolen.
Customers are responsible for providing a correct shipping address. If your order is returned due to incorrect address, you will be responsible for the additional shipping charges.
Customs and import taxes
Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply. I'm not responsible for delays due to customs.
Returns
We have a 15-day return policy, which means you have 15 days after receiving your item to request a return.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
Exceptions / non-returnable items
Certain types of items cannot be returned, like perishable goods (such as food, flowers, or plants), custom products (such as special orders or personalized items), underwear, and personal care goods (such as beauty products). We also do not accept returns for hazardous materials, flammable liquids, or gases. Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.
Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
